Microsoft relaxes ULCPC definition.

ULCPC - basically, it was Microsofts term for what we know as a netbook. Redmond were fairly stringent when it came to defining what exactly a netbook is: units over 10.2″ screen size, 80GB HDD, and those with touchscreens could not qualify as a ULCPC and thus would not receive the XP discount. Pretty miserly to say the least.

The good news that MS has changed their stance. A ULCPC can now include a screen up to 14.1″ (including  touchscreens). Also, the device can now feature a 160GB hard disk. There are a couple of negative aspects here - the CPU. MS states the ULCPC can only have one core and run at no higher than 1GHz and a max of 1GB of RAM. Well, that’ll stop you upgrading to Vista (which could be part of the Microsoft plan!)
