Carphone Warehouse netbook deal
I recently read an article that suggested netbook/UMPC/whatever sales would beat laptop and desktops sales by 2011. Well, I’m not going to argue with that. I’m a great fan and I see a bright future for ultra mobile products for both home users and businesses (feel free to chip in if you disagree).
It seems that big businesses are picking up on this new technology growth area. Yeah, I know PDA’s used to be the big thing and they still have a place in the market, but user requirements are changing. Consumers want decent sized screens, two handed typing but they want these features in a package that will make friends and colleagues envious. It’s no wonder that Carphone Warehouse has jumped on the band wagon.
Carphone Warehouse will be offering a free netbook when you buy an Orange subscription. For £25 per month you’ll get a 10.2″ netbook Elonex Technology, a Chinese company, with 2 year 3GB mobile broadband agreement from Orange UK.
Here’s the netbook specs:
Linux/Windows XP
- integrated b/g WiFi
- 3 USB ports
- 1.6GHz VIA processor
- 512MB DDRII RAM
- SD/MMC memory card reader
- 84-key QWERTY keyboard
- Weight 1.3kg
- 2GB of flash memory (upgradeable to a 2.5 inch HDD)
- audio out/in
- VGA Monitor Out
- 3 cell battery - up to 2.5 hours of power.
That’s not all. Carphone Warehouse are planning to launch more Elonex notebooks in the near future.
Now you’re spoilt for choice!
