AMD CPU for UMPC’s?

Written on June 20, 2008 – 2:40 am | by james |

AMDDid you really think AMD would let Intel capture the Ultra Mobile market unopposed? Nor did we. Looking at a report found on EeePCNews.de it would appear that AMD are getting ready leap into the market.

The processor is a 64 bit model running at 1.2Ghz. It’s only single core but should be more than capable of running most UMPC’s. The intergrated memory controller supports DDR2-400 Single DIMM or SODIMM.

The 8W TDP makes this a likely candidate for the UMPC market but the CPU will probably run too hot for smaller devices such as Mobile Internet Devices.
