Eee PC 900A - new processor, old skin

Asus Eee PCOk, some of you prefer the old Eee PC 900 chassis but you want Intel Atom goodness on the inside. Fear not, the Asus 900A will give you what you want.

This new specification from Asus should be available around the 18th August 2008 but, as with most UMPC announcements, I’d keep an open mind - remember the MSI Wind recall?

There’s a couple of let downs - no bluetooth and the camera is crap!

Anyway, here’s the spec:

  • Intel® Atom 1.6Ghz CPU
  • 1024MB DDR2 RAM
  • 8.9“ WVGA screen, 1024 x 600
  • 8GB / 16GB SSD ( 16GB not yet available )
  • LAN, Wifi,3x USB 2.0,  1x VGA-Out D-Sub
  • 0.3 Megapixel Webcam (told you it’s crap!)
  • SD-Card/MMC Slot (SDHC)
  • Lithium-Ion 4 cell / 4400mAh / 36 Watt
  • 225 x 170 x 20~33.8 mm
  • 990g
  • Linux OS

There’s some speculation over the battery - JKK has put together some thoughts on the battery type and potential life here.
